The statistics are easy to understand and the graphical display makes it easy to tighten up your surveys. It is usable by nearly anyone in the industry, regardless of their existing hardware and software.

STAR*NET is the most comprehensive software of its kind.

  • Able to import data from most field formats.
  • STAR*NET will compensate for the accuracy change.
  • Different instruments can be used in different atmospheric conditions by different crews.
  • Grid and ground data can be combined into the same project.
  • STAR*NET can take data from conventional observations, differential levelling observations and GPS and combine it into a 3D network adjustment project.
  • Greater flexibility in your methodology.
  • Redundant data is used to further enhance the accuracy of the survey.
  • Preanalysis function allows you to gain a realistic expectation of the accuracy you will see in your survey.
  • Makes it easy to detect blunders in your data.
  • Even though we aim for balanced traverse legs, it is a real-life truth that it is not always possible to achieve, due to factors such as the terrain or obstructions.
  • STAR*NET minimizes error by looking at traverse leg distances and properly weights the error potential in the different legs.
  • Helps achieve special order and ALTA-NSPS specification standards.
  • Gives you confidence and peace of mind in your output. Some of the benefits and features that STAR*NET can offer your company: STAR*NET is easy to use alongside any CAD software and is the most widely used Least Squares Adjustment software in the industry. The Least Squares Adjustment can be tedious to calculate by hand, but fortunately, with the help of technology, you do not have to. This gives us a way to tighten up the accuracy and figure out the most probable measurement based off our data. So in our previous example, the adjustment would look at the 10 measurements that you took and using statistics, would determine what the most likely actual measurement is. The Least Squares Adjustment is a statistical estimation that is used to minimize the sum of the squares of the inconsistencies. If you were looking to obtain results accurate to 0.1 of a millimeter, chances are you would see ten different results. However, the tighter your measurements need to be, the more differences you will see in your data.

Example: If you measure the distance between the same two points 10 times, and you are only measuring to the nearest centimeter, you will very likely see the same result over and over. The more accuracy that is required of the survey, the more inconsistencies we will see in the results. FieldGenius has Code-Free linework control in the field to eliminate the need to. Often, the accuracy that we want to achieve is beyond the capabilities of us as human beings and the instruments we use to measure. Unfortunately, it is impossible to measure physical qualities perfectly. It is a Surveyor’s duty to take great care in their measurements with the end goal of producing results with maximum precision. This article is intended to explain the concept of a “Least Square Adjustment” in an easy-to-understand way and offer a brief explanation of STAR*NET’s features. I don't know if Leica provides routines that automate SurvCE import.I often have clients ask me about our STAR*NET software. I am an LGO and Infinity user with the MOVE3 kernel onboard and working.

I installed the MOVE3 trial version and tried integrating data from different sources.

At least in my experience, it requires quite a tedious manual work. The only downside that I see is on observation data integration. You have the complete control of observation data. There is a Leica converter for StarNet but you have to get it from Leica. I used LGO/Move3 for about a year and a half. Otherwise I'd go with the flexibility of StarNet. Move 3 is just one module of LGO, you intend to use more.Like over your whole island archipelago at once.

  • You intend to run networks over a very large area.
  • If you will ever use data from another format StarNet's wide array of converters will be a big help.
  • You use Leica exclusively and are certain you always will.
